The study visit to the operation center of the Italian Coast Guard (ITCG)

On 19 October 2022, H.E. Rommanee Kananurak, Ambassador of Thailand to Italy and the current Chair of ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) together with ACR Ambassadors and officials from ACR Embassies visited the Italian Coast Guard Headquarters (ITCG) in Rome. The study visit was organized by the ITCG in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The visit was divided into two parts. The first part was the briefing about the role and function of the Italian Coast Guard which included 3 main functions, namely safety, security, and governance. The second part was the visit to the operation center of the Italian Coast Guard. It was beneficial to ACR to further explore possible maritime cooperation with Italy in bilateral, regional, and multilateral contexts in line with ASEAN-Italy Development Partnership: Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA 2022-2026) in which maritime cooperation is identified as one of the practical areas of cooperation.
