Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN met with Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

On 7 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Michael Tene, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN together with Ambassadors and Charge d’Affaires, a.i. of ASEAN Committee in Rome or ACR (ACR consists of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam) met with H.E. Ms. Maria Tripodi, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy. They discussed progress and future cooperation of ASEAN-Italy Development Partnership in line with the Italian contribution to the EU Strategy for the Indo-Pacific and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and commitments to further strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and Italy.

This meeting is part of Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN’s working visit to Italy between 4 – 7 December 2023. Other activities during his visit to Italy include lectures on “ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific” at LUISS University in Rome and University of Turin in Turin, meeting with ACR’s counterparts, namely Mr. Michelangelo Pipan and Mr. Romeo Orlandi, President and Vice-President of Italy-ASEAN Association as well as Mr. Pierfrancesco Torrisi, Founder and President of Global Action.
